A Korean restaurant, findable again.

WATDA is a Korean restaurant at the back of Ponsonby Central, Auckland. Their Squarespace site cost money every month, loaded slowly, and told Google almost nothing about the business — the structured data behind the page didn't even carry an address. We rebuilt it by hand.

{ THE PROBLEM }

Most restaurant websites are rented, not owned: a monthly template subscription that's slow on phones and invisible to search. WATDA's old site had a structured-data bug that sent Google an empty address — for a business where "Korean restaurant near me" is the whole game.

And search itself has split in two. People now ask ChatGPT and Google's AI where to eat. A site that doesn't speak that language doesn't get recommended.

{ WHAT WE DID }
01 / HAND-BUILT REBUILD

Home, menu, about, and find-us pages designed around the restaurant's real look — olive and sage from the actual storefront, their own photography, their real menu. No template.

02 / SEO + GEO LAYER

Proper restaurant structured data (with the address Google was missing), per-page titles and descriptions, a sitemap, and an og-card — then measured with our GEO engine until the AI-visibility score moved: 50 → 66.

03 / WEIGHT CUT

Every photo optimised — roughly 2MB each down to ~120KB. Zero layout shift (CLS 0.005) and zero main-thread blocking (TBT 0ms) on the live measurement.

04 / OWNED, NOT RENTED

Off the Squarespace subscription onto fast global hosting at $0/month, on their own domain, with their Google Workspace email untouched through the switch.

Scores measured on the live site, 17 July 2026: Lighthouse SEO 100, accessibility 96, best practices 96 (mobile). AI-visibility scored with PAAK's own GEO audit engine, same rubric before and after.
